Where to adopt in Jaipur
- Help in SufferingshelterAdoptionRescueSterilisation
Working from Durgapura since 1979. Their site says they treat over 7,500 injured, sick and abandoned animals a year through their hospital, alongside an adoption programme and long running animal birth control work.
their site - Dakash Animal Welfare FoundationshelterAdoptionRescueSterilisation
Their site says the team reaches injured or stranded animals anywhere in Jaipur, usually within 45 minutes, and runs a free veterinary clinic plus kennels. It describes placing animals only with verified families and staying in touch afterwards.
their site - Jaipur Animal Welfare AssociationshelterAdoption
Their site says JAWA houses old, abandoned and disabled animals and encourages the adoption of street dogs and Indies. It states plainly that public rescue and treatment services are not part of what they offer, so call one of the rescue groups for an emergency.

What the list shows for Jaipur
3 of 3 state that they rehome animals. 2 also do rescue work, which means they are the number to ring about an animal on the street rather than only about adopting one. 2 run sterilisation alongside it.
Your first fortnight in Jaipur
The first two weeks decide most of how this goes. Three arrangements matter, and everything else can wait until you know the animal.
- A vet in the first week, before anything is wrong. We list 8 after hours options in Jaipur, of which 5 state round the clock cover. Go once while the dog is calm, so the clinic becomes a known place rather than somewhere they first see in a crisis.
- Sterilisation, if it has not already been done. We list 2 low cost or subsidised providers in Jaipur, and several run free programmes for street animals that will also take an owned pet.
- An enzymatic cleaner rather than phenyl. Ordinary Indian floor cleaners leave the ammonia note a dog reads as an invitation to use the same spot again. It matters more with a rescue than with a puppy, because a dog that has lived outdoors has no reason to think your floor is different from any other ground.
A street dog arrives with habits rather than without them. They already know not to go where they sleep, and the job is translating that into a flat rather than starting from zero.
