What outdoor walks does better
Exercise, stimulation and social contact, none of which any indoor arrangement provides. Walks are not the thing to economise on, and time outside is good for the person on the other end of the lead too.
Choose it if: You are on a ground floor with a garden or a quiet street, home during the day, with a healthy fully vaccinated dog.

No. Walks are about exercise and stimulation rather than only the toilet, and dogs still want to go. What changes is that walks stop being urgent, which usually makes them better.
Is it lazy to use an indoor dog toilet?
It is the standard answer for an unvaccinated puppy, a dog recovering from surgery and a senior dog with mobility trouble. Beyond that, whether four late night trips down twelve floors in monsoon is a good use of an evening is a judgement rather than a moral question.
How many walks does a dog need?
It varies with breed, age and energy, and the exercise requirement does not change when you add an indoor option. What changes is the toilet-driven trips at inconvenient hours.
Can I use it only sometimes?
Yes, and many do. Monsoon months, nights, travel, or the recovery period after an operation. A dog that knows the option is there will use it when it needs to.
