How much food does a dog need?
The honest answer is that it depends on weight, age, and how active your dog is, not on the scoop size on the bag. Vets start from Resting Energy Requirement, which is 70 times body weight in kg to the power of 0.75, then multiply by a factor for life stage. A growing puppy needs far more per kg than a calm neutered adult, and a dog carrying extra weight needs less.
The cups figure depends on your food's calorie density, so always cross-check the label. See our other free dog tools for age and water estimates too.
