Jaipur to Kaziranga With a Dog
Roughly 2230km by road, which is around 35 hours of driving. Almost nobody does this by car with a dog. Train or plane is the sensible route.
Written for the journey in both directions. Kaziranga back to Jaipur is the same road with the light behind you.
Do not drive this one
2230km means multiple overnight stops each way. Rail is the sensible answer, and Kaziranga is reached from Furkating or Jorhat, then a road transfer of one to two hours.
Leaving Jaipur
Kaziranga lies east of Jaipur, roughly 2230km by road. Jaipur departures are quick and the heat is the thing to plan around rather than the traffic. From April the middle of the day is genuinely dangerous for a dog in a car, so the useful driving happens before ten and after five, and the road surface itself holds warmth well into the evening.

Kaziranga in one paragraph
Pets are not permitted inside the national park under any circumstances, which is true of Indian national parks generally. If you travel here with a dog, someone stays outside the park with them.
The full Kaziranga guide runs through the surface underfoot, the rules and the risks specific to the place.
Veterinary access at the far end
Basic. Jorhat, about two hours away, has better options. Bring your own supplies.
Find out where the nearest one is before you need it, and how long the drive takes at night. Emergency vets by city.
Timing it from Jaipur
Very hot and dry in summer, past 45C. Dry heat is slightly kinder than humid heat but heatstroke risk remains high.
Summer heat and Diwali fireworks are the two peaks.
Set that against Kaziranga, where the advice is to go november to april and avoid May to October. The overlap between those two windows is your actual travel season, and it is usually narrower than either one suggests on its own.
Doing this journey with your dog
At around 35 hours of driving this is two days each way, which is the argument for the train. The last hour is where most of the damage happens. Everyone is tired, the driver wants it finished, and the dog has been patient for longer than anyone has noticed. On a journey this long the final leg deserves the same care as the first. Arriving twenty minutes later with a dog that is still coping is the better trade.

Questions people ask
How far is Kaziranga from Jaipur?
Roughly 2230km by road, east of Jaipur, which is around 35 hours of driving. At that distance almost nobody drives it with a dog, and the figure is an estimate rather than a looked-up number.
Should I fly or take the train from Jaipur to Kaziranga?
Train for anything medium sized or larger. Cabin limits in India are strict and rarely negotiable, and the hold means a crate, a tarmac wait and somebody else doing the loading.
Can I drive from Jaipur to Kaziranga with a dog if I want to?
You can, over two or three days. Varanasi, Auli, Darjeeling sit broadly along the corridor and make sensible overnight stops.
What is the best time to visit Kaziranga with a dog?
November to April. Avoid May to October, because park closed during monsoon flooding.
Do I need to book pet friendly stays in Kaziranga ahead?
Yes, and confirm by phone rather than trusting a listing. Properties marked pet friendly frequently turn out to mean small dogs only, or specific rooms, or an undisclosed fee. Get the size limit in writing.
What should I pack for Jaipur to Kaziranga?
Water and a collapsible bowl, their own food rather than a new one, the physical vaccination card, any medication, a spare lead, poo bags and an old towel. The vaccination card is the item people leave behind and then need.
A planning estimate. It is derived from real times on 56 comparable routes and adjusted for the terrain here, and it cannot know about the diversion that went in last month.
