Roughly 690km and about 13 hours, traffic depending. Long haul from Mumbai on NH66, around 12 hours with breaks. Roads are decent but ghat sections are winding. Splitting overnight near Kolhapur or Ratnagiri makes it far easier on a dog.
Railhead if you would rather not drive: Madgaon and Thivim are the main stations, both well connected to Mumbai and Bangalore.
