Gurgaon to Jaipur With a Dog
Around 4 hours of driving each way, roughly 270km by road. Comfortable to do in a day with breaks.
Applies going out and coming back. The road from Jaipur to Gurgaon is the one you have just driven.
How the road actually runs
Roughly 270km and about 4 hours, traffic depending. About 5 hours from Delhi on the expressway, one of the easiest long drives in India. In summer, travel overnight and never leave the dog in a parked car even for minutes.
Railhead if you would rather not drive: Jaipur Junction, very well connected.
Leaving Gurgaon
Jaipur lies south west of Gurgaon, roughly 270km by road. Leaving Gurgaon is really a question of which way you cross the expressway. Southbound on NH48 is clear early and solid from about 8am once Manesar traffic builds, and anything through Delhi is worse than going around it. Aim to be past Kherki Daula before seven.
Of the 57 destinations we cover, Jaipur is the 2nd closest to Gurgaon. That makes it one of the easiest trips you can take from here.
Closer from Gurgaon, if this is further than you wanted
- Gurgaon to Agra , about 3 hours, heritage in Uttar Pradesh
Jaipur in one paragraph
Easy drive from Delhi and well set up for road trips. Summer heat is severe, and most fort and palace monuments do not permit pets, so plan someone to stay with the dog or visit at opening time.
The full Jaipur guide sets out the walkable ground, the places that turn dogs away and what the weather does to it.
Veterinary access at the far end
Good veterinary coverage, among the better options in Rajasthan, with several clinics across the city.
Know where the nearest twenty four hour option is even if the local one looks fine, since local ones close. Emergency vets by city.
Timing it from Gurgaon
Gurgaon shares Delhi's extremes: over 45C in May and June, and difficult winter air. The high rise stock also means many dogs get less ground level exercise than their breed needs, which shows up as weight and joint problems.
Diwali is the peak week for emergencies. Summer heat is the other.
Set that against Jaipur, where the advice is to go october to march and avoid April to June. The overlap between those two windows is your actual travel season, and it is usually narrower than either one suggests on its own.
Doing this journey with your dog
At around 4 hours this is a comfortable single day out of Gurgaon. Carry the vaccination card as a physical document. Hotels ask, some checkposts ask, and a vet at the far end will want it if anything happens. A photograph on a phone gets refused often enough to matter. Pack it with the lead, the bowl, poo bags and an old towel, and put the lot somewhere reachable rather than under the luggage for 4 hours.
Our breed climate checker scores how your breed copes with the conditions at Jaipur, and the travel hub has the other 56 destinations if this one turns out to be the wrong fit.
